LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said on Tuesday that present setup could not be changed without checking the way of ineligible persons to come in power repeatedly.
“We cannot see change in the society without ending the present setup,” he said this while addressing a press conference here at the PAT’s secretariat in Model Town.

Allama Dr Tahirul Qadri started the ‘Long March’ to Islamabad from Lahore on January 13 and arrived in Islamabad the next night. There are different figures about the number of people in the march that are being circulated. In a conservative estimate, the actual number of men, women and children, braving the weather at the D square and on Jinnah Avenue, was not less than 150,000. It is also noteworthy that the numbers did not reduce with the passage of time and actually increased because new groups joined in. Islamabad—The sit-in of the Tehreek Minhajul Quran ended after the agreement with federal government on the fulfillment of demands. The agreement has been given the name of “Islamabad Long March Declaration”. According to the agreement the assemblies would definitely be dissolved prior to the 16th March and elections would be held within 90 days. One month time would be given for the scrutiny of the nomination papers by Election Commission under Articles 62, 63 of the constitution.
