In continuation of the al-Hidayah project’s activities, raising awareness of issues pertinent to Muslims and non-Muslims in the West, al-Hidayah 2017 was arranged as a three day residential event. It was held within the picturesque surroundings of Keele University, Staffordshire, England on the bank holiday weekend running from Saturday 26 August to Monday 28 August 2017.
Qazi Muhammad Zahid Hussain and Khurram Nawaz Gandapur belonging to Sindh and KP provinces respectively were elected the President and Secretary General of PAT in an intra-party election. Basharat Jaspal, Fayyaz Warraich and Brig (r) Muhammad Mushtaq were elected to the positions of President of PAT Central, South and North chapters respectively; whereas Rehman Maqbool, Saifullah Saddozai, and Mahmood Ahmad Hasnain were elected General Secretary of PAT Central, South and North chapters. Chaudhry Muhammad Sharif was the runner-up for the position of the central PAT President.
Once again after October 2016 Rohingya is facing a massacre, but this time at a far greater scale from the Myanmar state. According to UN’s special rapporteur nearly 90,000 Rohingyans have already escaped to Bangladesh. Thousands of more are making their way across the Naf river in extremely dangerous conditions arriving at the borders of Bangladesh completely exhausted and traumatised; having not eaten for days and surviving on rain or ground water.
