Appeal: South Asia Disaster

More than 140,000 people across Asia have been killed after one of the most powerful earthquakes on record, in Indonesia, triggered massive tidal waves that slammed into coastlines in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Thailand and Malaysia. Tourists, fishermen, hotels, homes and cars were swept away by walls of water unleashed by the 8.9-magnitude earthquake. Waves as high as 30 feet crashed into coastal areas throughout the Indian Ocean and Andaman Sea.
Eid Pakage

On the 8th November (24th Ramadan), a decent ceremony of Eid Package distribution was took place in community Hall Green Town, Lahore. A ceremony was arranged by Zonal Department of Social Welfare Govt. of Punjab with the help of Charitable NGOs Minhaj-ul-Quran welfare society has also participated in this Eid Package. A Group of MWS consisting Director Col (r) Muhammad Ahmad, Deputy Director Sajid Bhatti and Secretary MWS Safdar Abbas was present in the ceremony. No. of Eid packages was given to the poor/needy by them.
7th Minhaj ul Qur`an Welfare Society Free Eye Surgery Camp in Narowal, PK

7th Minhaj ul Qur`an welfare society Narowal eye surgery camp started on 11th of September 2004. Free eye OPD camps were set up at 18 different places of the whole distt. These camps are set up far and far from where its very hard for the dependent, old and the poor people to come to hospitals for their treatment. These people are suffering from this eye disease for a long. Minhaj ul Qur`an welfare society Narowal provides thousands of masses the facility of free eye treatment door to door. It is advertised the holding of the camps of OPD and the schedule of free eye surgery camp through the medium of pamphlets through out the distt. Hence the society sets up OPD camp under the supervision of eye specialist doctors. Where helpless and the poor people are checked. Most of them are given the medicines and eye drops after their check up. Where as many people are selected for their eye surgery and they are given the date for free surgery of their eyes. This year almost 3000 eye patients have been checked at 18 different places in the country side of Narowal. Out of which, 500 people were called for surgery
Student Sponsorship

A ceremony of Eid Gifts distribution was organized at the Central Office of MWS, Lahore on 26 Oct, 2004 which was sponsored by MQI Rotterdam (Holland). Thirty five students received the gift of Eid from the responsibles at the Central Office of MWS. At this occasion Nazim-e-Aala (MQI) said that MWS is struggling for the uplift of deprived and poor people. He mentioned that MWS is smoothly running many welfare projects. Students Welfare Board is one of them through which thousands of students are being educated for their bright and prosperous future. At this occasion principle of COSIS Dr. Zahor Ahmad Azhar said that if it do come true that each member of organization or society perform his duties and get his share properly then it will certainly progress by leaps and bounds.
BAM Earthquake Relief Fund

In the last week of December 2003 a powerful earthquake rocked the city of Bam in Iran. Within only 14 seconds thousands ofpeople were buried under the flattened homes and destroyed buildings. Minhaj Welfare Foundation immediately launched an emergency appeal for the victims of the earthquake. Through out the whole world. Many Muslims, specially the members of Minhaj Ul Quran came forward and donated whole heartedly for the victims of their Muslim brothers. A delegation of Minhaj Welfare Foundation including Mr Ali Reza Rizvi , Secretary Information and Mr Dawood Hussain Mashhadi ,the Director for the Department of Foreign Affairs of Minhaj Ul Quran International went to Iran to distribute the aid package to the victims of the Earthquake which was donated by the donners of MWFMr Ali Reza Ghalibaph, President Minhaj Ul Quran International Iran received the delegation of MWF at the Mashed International Airport.
Benazir Bhutto was a gallant daughter of a dauntless father: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Chairman PAT Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri says his heart is filled with grief and sorrow over the brutal murder of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto. May Allah bless her with forgiveness and peace. Expressing solidarity with the family members of the late Benazir Bhutto, PPP workers, leaders and the nation at large, Dr Qadri strongly condemned her assassination saying: It is the murder of democracy and political freedom and a heinous conspiracy and a dangerous maneuver of hidden hands to dismember Pakistan. Paying tributes to the dynamic leadership of Banazir Bhutto he called her a gallant daughter of a dauntless father whom the unforeseen forces have removed from the scene. She was a political leader of high stature. Dr Qadri was addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club telephonically from Canada. Nazim-e-Aala MQI Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Naib Nazim-e-Aala Shaikh Zahid Fayyaz, Anwar Akhtar Advocate, GM Malik and Director Media MQI Dr Shahid Mahmud were present on the occasion.
Hundreds Mourn Loss of Benazir Bhutto

MQI observes seven-day mourning on Benazir's assassination

A condolence meeting of the PAT Working Council was held at the Central Secretariat of the Party in Model Town Lahore and supplication for emancipation and forgiveness of the martyred Benazir was made and seven-day mourning was announced by the party leadership. The meeting also decided to call off all the programmes and activities scheduled to be held in all the MQI centers round the world. The Central Working Council of the Party awarded Benazir Bhutto the title of 'Martyre of Democracy' in recognition of the most commendable services to democracy accomplished by her. The meeting was attended by all the central leaders of the Party including Nazim-e-Aala Rahiq Ahmed Abbasi, Naib Nazim-e-Aala Shaikh Zahid Fayyaz, Anwar Akhtar Advocate, GM Malik, Ahmed Nawaz Anjum, Sajid Mahmud Bhatti, Dr Ali Akbar, Rana Muhammad Idrees, Farhat Husain Shah, Jawwad Hamid, Haji Manzur Ahmed and others. The Party Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri addressed the meeting telephonically from Canada. Addressing the meeting he called assassination of Benazir Bhutto the murder of democracy. He said her murder was the most heinous and shocking conspiracy and the most wicked assault against the solidarity of the federation.
Chief Guest at the International Mawlid Conference

Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi al-Hassani of Syria will be the chief guest at the International Mawlid Conference 2004AD/1425AH. This is the first visit of Shaykh to Pakistan. Shaykh Muhammad descends from a scholarly family whose lineage goes back to the Prophet, salla Allahu `alayhi wa sallam, through his grandson Sayyiduna al-Hasan, radiya Allahu `anhu. Demonstrating Muslim Culture : Meena Bazaar held at Idara Minhaj-ul-Quran : Copenhagen, Denmark

On the 11th of April 2004 a big culture gathering, called a MINA BAZAR was arranged by Minahj-ul-Quran women youth league sisters in our Idara which is an Islamic Center in Copenhagen The aim of the event was two fold. Firstly we wanted to attract new sisters to our centre who do not normally attend Islamic events and talks, feeling intimidated and sometimes just think Islam is boring. Alhumdulilah with the Grace of Almighty Allah we had a very good turn out. Sisters from all walks of life came; including those who perhaps have never attended a program organized by Hijaabis also came along and enjoyed themselves immensely! Many students currently studying in Idara Minhaj-ul-Quran arrived with their mothers who liked the atmosphere.
Breaks were provided for Salah times and the sisters were encouraged to pray too.
DR. Qadri visiting Bangladesh

Martyrdom of Sayyidina Imam Hussain (RA) Conference : London, UK

On 7th March 2004 the London Women`s League held a program at the Minhaj-ul-Qur`an Islamic Cultural Centre, commemorating the Martyrdom of Sayyidina Imam Hussain (RA). Alhumdulilah the program went very well with an excellent turn out of sisters. Sister Zareeda began the program with recitation of the Holy Qur`an. The main speakers were Brother Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri who spoke about the significance of the events of Karbala and Sister Khadija Atkinson who spoke in particular about how the Martyrdom of Imam Hussain is relevant for Muslims today.

There is a great project being carried out by members of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) in Lahore, which can also be carried out else where. Members and supporters of MQI and PAT in Lahore, have been working on getting the lectures of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on various cable channels which operate in Lahore. Presently lectures are aired on Lahore Cable channels daily, with lectures of Qaid Inqilab being shown on several channels simultaneously.
