Present electoral system fated to fail: Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that elections, whether to be held sooner or later under the present system, will be a joke with the nation. The outcome of the present electoral system is that the institutions of the country are pitted against each other. Those who consider elections as the solution of the problems the country is caught up in were befooling the people of Pakistan. The handover of authority to another group of privileged elite in the name of elections will be a national crime as it would further compound the problems instead of solving them.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that democracy is not about
huge buildings and a few families having a monopoly on economic resources and political
power. It was rather defined by the process of transfer of rights to the people,
who are real stakeholders in the system. He said that public good is the be-all
and end-all of the democratic system where elected representatives exercise power
for the benefit of masses.
MQI attends Sikh festival of ‘Baisahki’

‘Baisakhi’, the religious and cultural festival of the Sikh religion was celebrated on April 13, 2012 in Hassan Abdal. Thousands of Sikh pilgrims including a large number of devotees from India attended the celebrations. The event was organized under the banner of Evacuee Property Trust Board, Government of Pakistan. Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, was one of the invitees to the occasion.

Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, attended the funeral rites of distinguished national hero Group Captain (Rtd.) Cecil Chaudhry, which were performed in Lahore Sacred Heart Cathedral Church. Bishop Subtain Shah, Bishop Andrew Francis, and Bishop Joseph Coats held the prayer ceremony for late Mr. Chaudhry.
Interfaith moot held under Interfaith Council

Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, held a meeting with Advisor to Prime Minister on National Harmony Dr Paul Bhatti and gifted him the fatwa of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. The meeting took place in the office of the Advisor in Islamabad.
MWL’s interfaith peace moot calls for efforts to promote peace

Displaying harmony and unity, hundreds of women representing different faiths, cultures and beliefs converged at National Press Club Islamabad on Sunday (29th of April, 2012) to attend the first ever women inter-faith peace conference in the country. The conference titled: ‘Peace for Humanity, Muhammad (SAW): The Merciful’ was organized by Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League, Islamabad chapter.
MQI delegation pays respects at Iqbal’s shrine

On the occasion of death anniversary of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal, a central delegation of Minhaj-ul-Quran International led by G.M. Malik, Principal Secretary to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri paid their respects on the shrine of the poet-philosopher and laid a floral wreath on his grave on behalf of Shaykh-ul-Islam. They also offered Fateha on the occasion. The delegation consisted of Sohail Ahmad Raza, Jawad Hamid, Sajid Bhatti, Kalyan Singh, Jaswant Singh and others.

Dr Raheeq said that the Pakistan nation was stuck up in complex web called democracy. He said that capitalist democracy was in vogue. He said that majority of people sans a few exceptions currently holding sway in the country had serious questions over their conduct and character. He said that people were so shackled that they were forced to vote the same people into power again and again.

Shaykh-ul-Islam has said that the ship of Pakistan was caught in unchartered waters with no direction in sight. He said that it was unfortunate that the people had started to question the very rationale of Pakistan, thanks to decades-old mismanagement, corruption, misrule and plunder of national resources. In a message on the death anniversary of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that serious threats were posed to Pakistan’s territorial and ideological frontiers and it was a moment to pause and think.
Shaykh-ul-Islam grieved over loss of lives in air crash

Shaykh-ul-Islam has expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in an air crash near Islamabad in which all 127 persons aboard on the unfortunate Boeing 737 aircraft died. He said that the air crash was a monumental national tragedy, which had saddened the entire country.

MQI's Workers Convention 2012

The annual 8th Workers Convention of Minhaj-ul-Quran International was held around the world on April 8, 2012. The main ceremony was hosted by the Lahore chapter of MQI at the central secretariat in Lahore. In addition to the main ceremony, hundreds of other conventions were held in different cities around the world including 222 cities of Pakistan where the participants attended the proceedings through Minhaj TV. The chief highlight of the Workers Convention was the keynote address of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
Urdu declamation contest held at COSIS

Mass marriage ceremony of 24 couples held under MWF

24 couples including three Christian couple tied the knot at a mass marriage ceremony organized by Minhaj Welfare Foundation at its central secretariat in Model Town Lahore today. Every bride was gifted necessary household stuff of worth Rs. One lakh and fifty thousand rupees and a jewelry set. Marriage feast was also arranged for 1500 guests.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the entire country has fallen victim to suicide bombing as there was not anything like democracy in the country. He said that it was an age of realpolitik where matters of immense import were being decided under political considerations. He said that religious parties were devoid of any character and the country was heading towards becoming a failed state. He predicted that no change would come about in the country as a result of upcoming elections.
