Present electoral system fated to fail: Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that elections, whether to be held sooner or later under the present system, will be a joke with the nation. The outcome of the present electoral system is that the institutions of the country are pitted against each other. Those who consider elections as the solution of the problems the country is caught up in were befooling the people of Pakistan. The handover of authority to another group of privileged elite in the name of elections will be a national crime as it would further compound the problems instead of solving them.

Reforms integral to installing real democracy: Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that democracy is not about huge buildings and a few families having a monopoly on economic resources and political power. It was rather defined by the process of transfer of rights to the people, who are real stakeholders in the system. He said that public good is the be-all and end-all of the democratic system where elected representatives exercise power for the benefit of masses.

MQI attends Sikh festival of ‘Baisahki’ ‘Baisakhi’, the religious and cultural festival of the Sikh religion was celebrated on April 13, 2012 in Hassan Abdal. Thousands of Sikh pilgrims including a large number of devotees from India attended the celebrations. The event was organized under the banner of Evacuee Property Trust Board, Government of Pakistan. Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, was one of the invitees to the occasion.

Director Interfaith Relations of MQI attends funeral rites of Mr. Cecil Chaudhry Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, attended the funeral rites of distinguished national hero Group Captain (Rtd.) Cecil Chaudhry, which were performed in Lahore Sacred Heart Cathedral Church. Bishop Subtain Shah, Bishop Andrew Francis, and Bishop Joseph Coats held the prayer ceremony for late Mr. Chaudhry.

The meeting took place in the office of the Advisor in Islamabad.

MQI delegation pays respects at Iqbal’s shrine On the occasion of death anniversary of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal, a central delegation of Minhaj-ul-Quran International led by G.M. Malik, Principal Secretary to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri paid their respects on the shrine of the poet-philosopher and laid a floral wreath on his grave on behalf of Shaykh-ul-Islam. They also offered Fateha on the occasion. The delegation consisted of Sohail Ahmad Raza, Jawad Hamid, Sajid Bhatti, Kalyan Singh, Jaswant Singh and others.

Our salvation lies in following Iqbal: Dr Raheeq Abbasi Dr Raheeq said that the Pakistan nation was stuck up in complex web called democracy. He said that capitalist democracy was in vogue. He said that majority of people sans a few exceptions currently holding sway in the country had serious questions over their conduct and character. He said that it was unfortunate that the people had started to question the very rationale of Pakistan, thanks to decades-old mismanagement, corruption, misrule and plunder of national resources. In a message on the death anniversary of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that serious threats were posed to Pakistan’s territorial and ideological frontiers and it was a moment to pause and think.

He said that the air crash was a monumental national tragedy, which had saddened the entire country.

MQI's Workers Convention 2012 The annual 8th Workers Convention of Minhaj-ul-Quran International was held around the world on April 8, 2012. The main ceremony was hosted by the Lahore chapter of MQI at the central secretariat in Lahore. In addition to the main ceremony, hundreds of other conventions were held in different cities around the world including 222 cities of Pakistan where the participants attended the proceedings through Minhaj TV.
