Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that resignations were pouring in and the nation would have to resign from the corrupt electoral system soon. He said that the present electoral system was characterized by duress, rigging and demonstration of naked physical power, further adding that even those who wished to bring about change sincerely were destined to fail under the system. He said that all political parties had joined the bandwagon of power and there would be no real opposition leaving the space open for the government not only to have its cake but eat it too.

As election-day drew near, the hundreds of overseas Pakistanis expressed their solidarity with their beleaguered nation and its countrymen, by staging a protest at Pakistani embassies across Europe, to show their discontent and condemnation of the corrupt practices and unconstitutional electoral process, under which the elections were going to take place. They made it known to the international community that they passionately believe in democracy and vote, but the current electoral system violated the sanctity of vote, where both the government and opposition were likely to be product of corruption.

24 couples tie knot at mass marriage ceremony under MWF

20 Muslim and 4 non-Muslim couples tied the knot as per their religious rituals and thus embarked on a new phase of life at a mass marriage ceremony organized by Minhaj Welfare Foundation in Minhaj University Campus, Lahore on April 14 (Sunday). Every bride was gifted household stuff of worth Rs. 1.5 lacs and a jewelry set. Arrangements were also made for 1800 guests.
