The News Tribe: TMQ long march begins, Tahir-ul-Qadri for dissolution of Balochistan govt

Lahore: After a delay of couple of hours, Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) long march began at 1:30pm from the residence of the movement’s Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri.

The march of was to start at 9am today.

While talking to media before the departure, Qadri alleged that his workers and other participants of the march were being stopped to join the march. He said that the provincial government had taken the licenses and route permits of the drivers who were hired for the march.

Dr Qadri is adamant on heading a march towards the Pakistan’s capital Islamabad despite an assurance from the federal government that it would accept his demands.

He said that despite the hurdles created by the federal and the Punjab governments they would travel towards the capital and would bring change in the country.

He strongly condemned that Shiites’ killing in Quetta and warned the authorities to dissolve the Balochistan government before he reached Islamabad.

Special security measures have been taken to protect Dr Qadri from any potential terrorist attack. A bedroom and a toilet have been set up for the TMQ chief in a bomb-proof container.

As many as 3,000 personnel from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Frontier Constabulary and Punjab police were deployed in Islamabad on Saturday as a part of the security arrangements.
