Minhaj Ulama Council and Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan Hold "Unity of the Ummah Conference"

Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council and Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan jointly organised the "Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and Unity of the Ummah Conference" at Dar-ul-Uloom Jamia Muhammadiya, Lahore. The conference brought together prominent religious scholars from diverse schools of thought to reaffirm their collective commitment to inter-sect harmony, national unity, peace, and the promotion of Islamic values during the sacred month of Muharram.

The conference was chaired by Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqui, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council and Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan, while the chief guest was Allama Dr. Mir Asif Akbar Qadri, Secretary General of Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan.

Among the distinguished speakers were Allama Dr. Mufti Muhammad Karim Khan, Chairman of Wifaq-ul-Madaris Rizvia; Allama Dr. Zulfiqar Haider, leader of Tehreek Wahdat-e-Ummah and Jamia Urwat-ul-Wusqa Lahore; Allama Mufti Mukhtar Nadeem, Khateeb of Jamia Masjid Data Darbar; Mufti Zubair Faheem, President of Majma-ul-Uloom Al-Islamia Jamia Al-Rasheed Punjab; Allama Pir Muhammad Ashfaq Ali Chishti, Nazim of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council; Allama Muhammad Rafiq Qadri Randhawa, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council Lahore; Allama Mufti Mehboob Ahmad Siddiqui, President of Sunni Ulama Council Lahore; and Allama Professor Qari Mushtaq Ahmad Qadri, President of the Bhagh Ali Shah Research Institute.

Addressing the conference, Dr. Mir Asif Akbar Qadri said that since its inception, Minhaj-ul-Quran has consistently worked to promote moderation, tolerance, inter-sect harmony, and the unity of the Muslim Ummah. He noted that the organisation commemorates the lives of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Ahl al-Bayt, and other eminent Islamic personalities with profound reverence, respect, and devotion.

He stated that the conference, organised in memory of Imam Hussain (RA) and the noble martyrs of the Prophet's family, reflects the shared commitment of scholars from all schools of thought to promoting peace, mutual respect, tolerance, national cohesion, and sectarian harmony during Muharram.

Dr. Mir Asif Akbar Qadri observed that Pakistan has earned growing international recognition for its efforts toward peace and stability. Preserving this honour and strengthening the country's global standing, he said, requires a collective sense of responsibility. He cautioned that forces hostile to Pakistan may seek to undermine the country's peace, progress, and international reputation by inciting sectarianism, extremism, and terrorism. He therefore urged religious scholars, preachers, spiritual leaders, and mosque imams to use their platforms during Muharram to promote love, brotherhood, tolerance, and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

He further remarked that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, founding leader and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has consistently advocated Muslim unity, mutual respect, dialogue, moderation, and tolerance, describing these values as the defining characteristics of the organisation.

In his presidential address, Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqui said that the life and sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) continue to inspire Muslims with timeless lessons of patience, steadfastness, courage, justice, and unwavering commitment to truth. He emphasised that the message of Karbala transcends sectarian boundaries and calls upon the Muslim Ummah to uphold unity, justice, and moral responsibility.

The conference was also attended by Raja Zahid Mahmood Qadri, Vice President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek; Iqbal Hussain Bajwa, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Lahore; Malik Ahmad Awan, President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Lahore; Allama Khalil Hanafi, Nazim of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council Lahore; Muhammad Younas Jamaati; Qari Zafar Iqbal; and numerous scholars, religious leaders, social activists, and representatives of political and public organisations.
