The Holy Prophet's ﷺ Life Is a Practical Model of Love, Compassion and Goodwill for All Humanity: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Founder and Patron-in-Chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has said that the life and character of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ provide a practical and universal model of love, compassion, kindness and goodwill for all humanity.

Addressing the 43rd International Milad Conference organized by Minhaj-ul-Quran International at the sprawling grounds of Minar-e-Pakistan, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the beautiful moral qualities reflected in the Seerah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ—including gentleness, friendliness, ease of manner, and warmth and closeness in dealing with people—are means of salvation for a believer.

He emphasized that a believer’s personality should be such that people feel comfortable interacting with him. A true believer is one who makes life easier for others, supports them in times of difficulty and, through his conduct, never becomes a source of hardship or burden for anyone. These four qualities must become an integral part of a person’s character and should be reflected practically in every sphere of life.

Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri urged people to engage in self-accountability and ask themselves whether their presence brings peace, comfort and ease to others or causes them distress and difficulty. He observed that the crop of human love flourishes only in the soil of a heart that is gentle, open and free of harshness. True closeness, he said, is not merely a matter of physical association; it is a bond between hearts. The Seerah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is the finest practical manifestation of love, compassion and concern for the welfare of all humanity.

Dr. Qadri said that, according to the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, humility and gentleness are among the distinguishing qualities of the servants of the Most Merciful. The Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ is likewise replete with examples of kindness, forgiveness and exemplary treatment of others. He cited the well-known incident of the Bedouin who urinated in the mosque, explaining that although the Prophet ﷺ corrected his mistake, he did not humiliate or break his heart. Likewise, despite suffering severe persecution, the Prophet ﷺ prayed for the guidance and forgiveness of even those who opposed him.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that Allah Almighty loves gentleness and kindness. This is why even Prophet Moses and Prophet Aaron (peace be upon them) were instructed to speak gently when confronting Pharaoh, despite his tyranny and rebellion. This demonstrates that the purpose of Dawah is not to defeat an opponent but to win his heart. Scholars and those engaged in preaching and religious guidance, he stressed, should therefore adopt love, wisdom and gentleness in their method of Dawah.

Referring to an incident concerning the moral education of a young man, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the Holy Prophet ﷺ did not harshly reject the young man’s inappropriate desire. Instead, he awakened his conscience and understanding through wisdom, affection and compassionate dialogue, transforming him for the rest of his life. This, he explained, is the Prophetic method of training: to awaken a person’s intellect and conscience and help him understand the distinction between right and wrong.

He further stated that celebrating the birth of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is not confined to holding gatherings, processions and religious assemblies. The real objective is to translate the message of the Seerah into practical conduct. The true demand of love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is obedience, following his example, excellence in character and reform of one’s conduct.

He called upon Muslims to shape their lives according to the Prophetic model and promote love, gentleness, ease and goodwill toward humanity throughout society.
