President Minhaj-ul-Quran International and Deputy Chairman Board of Governors Minhaj University Lahore Prof. Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has said that religious and spiritual leadership can play an important role in addressing growing intercivilizational and cultural tensions around the world. He said promoting shared human values is essential for every country and society.

He expressed these views while addressing an International Scientific and Practical Conference held in Moscow, Russia. The conference was attended by scholars, university vice chancellors and prominent intellectuals from 56 countries. It was organized by the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia.

In his special address, Prof. Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said human dignity and respect are not privileges granted by any state, nationality or geography; rather, they are fundamental human rights. He said states and societies are made up of people, therefore political, religious, spiritual and social activities should place human beings and their welfare at the centre.

Drawing an analogy between different religions and intellectual traditions and “windows,” Dr Hussain Qadri said the real significance of a window lies not in its frame or glass but in how clearly it enables one to see the world beyond. Religious, spiritual and political leadership should keep their intellectual “windows” clear and broaden their perspectives so that they can better understand the rights, dignity, hardships and needs of others.

He said differences should never become a justification for abandoning respect for human beings. Highlighting the historical, religious and social contributions of Muslim communities in Russia and Central Asia, he said there is a need to create greater awareness globally about the history and social contributions of Muslims in the region.

Prof. Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri also appreciated the support extended by the Russian government for religious, social and cultural activities related to Islam.

Conveying his good wishes and message of goodwill on behalf of the people of Pakistan, Dr Hussain Qadri said Pakistan remains committed to promoting meaningful dialogue, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among religions, civilizations and nations.

He said such international forums can help strengthen ties and promote bilateral cooperation among religious, academic and social circles in Pakistan and Russia.
