Al-Hidayah Australia 2026 – Day 3: Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri Highlights the Purification of the Heart, the Love of Awliya Allah, and the Path to True Inner Peace

Addressing the concluding session of Al-Hidayah Australia 2026, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, delivered a profound address on the purification of the soul (Tazkiyah al-Nafs), true repentance (Tawbah), spiritual excellence, and the transformative role of love for the Awliya Allah (the Friends of Allah) in drawing believers closer to Allah Almighty.
He explained that repentance is not limited to seeking forgiveness for outward sins alone. External sins are those that the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ have clearly identified as lawful or unlawful. Every believer, he said, is therefore responsible for protecting themselves from these apparent sins.
He further explained that there are also inward sins that affect the heart and soul, including jealousy, hatred, greed, arrogance, insincerity, miserliness, dishonesty, and other spiritual and moral diseases. True repentance requires cleansing the heart of these hidden illnesses so that one's inner self becomes adorned with sincerity, humility, compassion, and righteousness.
Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri described two levels of inner repentance. The first is purifying the heart from destructive moral traits that obstruct spiritual growth. The second relates to the innermost reality of the heart (Sirr), where a believer strives to remove every attachment besides Allah Almighty, making His love, pleasure, and nearness the ultimate purpose of life.
Reflecting on the condition of modern society, he observed that humanity's greatest crisis is not a shortage of wealth or technology but the neglect of the soul's essential needs. While scientific progress, industrial development, and technological advancement have transformed the world, they have not eliminated anxiety, loneliness, or inner emptiness because material success alone cannot satisfy the human soul.
Referring to the insights of renowned psychiatrist Viktor Frankl, he explained that when people lose a higher purpose and meaning in life, they experience an inner spiritual vacuum. Human beings are not merely physical bodies; they also possess souls that require spiritual nourishment. Material achievements can fulfil physical needs, but only a living connection with Allah Almighty can satisfy the heart.
Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri stated that true peace and fulfilment cannot be attained through material possessions or worldly distractions alone. He explained that the real remedy for loneliness, anxiety, and inner emptiness lies in the remembrance of Allah (Dhikr), sincere worship, and keeping the company of the righteous. When people distance themselves from these sources of spiritual nourishment, they often seek comfort in harmful alternatives such as substance abuse and other destructive habits, which only deepen their suffering rather than healing it.
Referring to the teachings of Hazrat Ali Hujwiri (Data Ganj Bakhsh) (may Allah have mercy on him), author of the renowned spiritual classic *Kashf al-Mahjub*, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri highlighted that the path to inner peace and closeness to Allah is illuminated through sincere spiritual companionship, self-purification, and steadfast devotion to the Divine.
Highlighting the teachings of Imam al-Ghazali (may Allah have mercy on him), Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri explained that genuine reform begins with the purification of the heart and strengthening one's relationship with Allah rather than merely pursuing outward success.
He also emphasised the importance of developing love and spiritual attachment to the Awliya Allah (the Friends of Allah). Their blessed lives, he explained, embody sincerity, remembrance of Allah, self-purification, and complete devotion to the Divine. Remaining connected to their teachings and following their example enriches spiritual life, strengthens faith, refines character, and inspires believers to walk the path of righteousness. This spiritual relationship, he said, becomes a means of attaining closeness to Allah Almighty and experiencing true inner peace.
The concluding session was attended by a large gathering of office bearers and volunteers of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Australia, members of the Pakistani community, youth, students, families, and people from diverse professional and social backgrounds.
Concluding the camp, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri congratulated Minhaj-ul-Quran International Australia and the entire Al-Hidayah Australia 2026 organising team for the outstanding arrangements and successful conduct of the programme. He appreciated the organisers, volunteers, and all those who contributed to the event, commending their dedication, sincerity, and exemplary teamwork.
He remarked that programmes of this nature play a vital role in the intellectual, spiritual, and moral development of the younger generation. He concluded with a heartfelt supplication, praying that Allah Almighty accepts the efforts of all organisers, volunteers, and participants, grants them steadfastness in serving Islam, and enables them to continue spreading the light of faith, knowledge, and righteousness. Ameen.
