Rawalpindi: Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) leader Dr Tahirul Qadri on Sunday announced to boycott the upcoming polls in Pakistan saying that he is not ready to become part of the current corrupt system.

Addressing a large gathering of the PAT activists in Rawalpindi, Qadri said that his party would stage sit-in on polling stations on the election day.

“Government betrayed from the promises they made for the reforms in the election commission on the event of sit-in in Islamabad,” he said.

Several resolutions were also approved during the gathering which said that there should be 35 provinces in the country and Prime Minister should be elected from the direct vote of people instead of the voting of assembly lawmakers.

“All authorities should be shifted to the local bodies’ representatives and the chief minister and his cabinet should be dissolved,” one of the resolution said.
