I’d like to thank John Torok for his kind words of 5 March.

A few days ago a very prominent cleric issued a 600-page fatwa against extremism and suicide bombing. Here is my support for the fatwa:

JE comments: Dr. Qadri has produced a most impressive work of scholarship, which shows how both Scripture and precedents in Islamic Law resolutely prohibit terrorism and suicide. Muqtedar Khan is guardedly optimistic that Dr. Qadri’s fatwa will have a positive effect. A most informative op-ed piece.

Greetings from Cartagena, Colombia. We arrived safely yesterday afternoon, and spent the evening exploring this colonial jewel of a city. More reports are forthcoming.
