MQI leaders spend Eid with flood victims

Dated: 11 September 2010 MQI on FB

On the special instructions of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the central leaders of Minhaj-ul-Quran spent their Eid Day with the flood victims as mark of solidarity and sympathy with them. Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated on September 11 throughout the world including Pakistan. In addition to spending three days of Eid with the flood affectees, MQI leaders, volunteers, workers, member of relief committee and medical teams also continued the relief operations in those areas.

A MQI delegation consisting of acting Secretary General Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz and Sajid Mahmood Bhatti, deputy head of flood relief committee visited the flood affected areas during the three days of Eid. The office holders of other sub-chapters of MQI were also part of the central delegation. The delegation reached the flood affected areas one day ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. They offered Eid prayers with the flood victims living in the Minhaj Tent Settlements in Larkana, Kashmore, Mianwali, Rajanpur, Shikarpur and Noshehra and distributed relief goods and Eid gifts among the children. Talking to the media on the occasion, Sajid Mahmood Bhatti said that the MQI central leaders have tried to share the grief of the flood victims by spending the three days of Eid with them. He said that this was illustration of the fact that Minhaj Welfare Foundation would continue its relief operations till the complete rehabilitation of the flood victims.

It should be kept in mind that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri had ordered the cancellation of Itikaf 2010 in view of heavy floods and displacement of the millions of people. On his instructions hundreds of volunteers of MQI reached the flood affected areas and spent 13 days including three days of Eid in the service of the flood victims.

Meanwhile, acting Secretary General of MQI Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz spent three days of Eid with the flood victims of Larkana and Shikarpur and shared their grief. Other leaders of MQI were also with him. After the Eid prayers, they visited the tent settlements, held meetings with people, listened to their problems and issued instructions to address their issues. Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz distributed Eidi and other gifts among the children. Talking to the people on the occasion, he said that MQI and its leadership share the grief and sorrow of our brethren who have had to face the worst tragedy of the unprecedented floods. He said it was our collective religious duty to do everything possible to bring our flood stricken people back to the mainstream. He assured the people that MWF would continue its relief and rehabilitation operations. He said that MQI was with the people, making practical efforts to redress their problems. He said that MWF would mobilize all resources to help the flood victims. He added that the Minhaj medical teams continued to give medical treatment to the flood affectees during the days of Eid as well, and hundreds of people were given medical aid in Bhaker, Mianwali, Noshehra, Larkana and Shikarpur.
