On September 26, 2010, an inaugural ceremony of 40-day Irfan-ul-Quran Course was held in Numal Sharif under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League, which was attended by a large number of women and students from the area. Sumaira Rafaqat Advocate, central Secretary General of Minhaj Women League and Sadaf Iqbal were the guests of honour on the occasion. Sayyida Misbah Afzal delivered the welcome remarks. Ms. Sumaira Rafaqat said in her speech that our society has become the hub of moral and spiritual vices, which owe themselves to our prayerlessness and disconnection with the holy Quran. She said that it was the miracle of the Holy Quran that it transformed an ignorant and medieval people of the Arab society into the custodians of modern civilization and fathers of science. She said that as long as we would stay away from the fundamental teachings of Islam, we would be doomed with little chance to stage a comeback. “In order for us to regain our lost glory, we need to connect ourselves to the Holy Quran. This precisely is the mission and message of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri,” she held.

Ms. Sumaira Rafaqat said that the Muslims have fallen prey to the forces of stagnation and conservatism in the field of knowledge and sciences. Unless they break this intellectual impasse, they cannot move forward. She said that Shaykh-ul-Islam has initiated a global movement of spreading the word of the Holy Quran with a view to connecting our relationship. “Shaykh-ul-Islam has taught us that it is by connecting ourselves with the Holy Quran that we can defeat the forces of terrorism and extremism, she argued.”
