Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that bomb blast in Peshwar is a manifestation of the depth of terrorist problem and a part of heinous conspiracy against the country. This new wave of terror, he said, seems to be geared to destabilize Pakistan and ignite the fires of sectarianism. He said that Islam condemns terrorism, extremism and sectarianism at every level and imparts the teachings of tolerance, love, moderation and peaceful coexistence among different communities.

Condemning the Peshwar carnage in the strongest possible words, he said that terrorists are enemy of Islam and humanity and they want to create the feelings of insecurity through their actions. “Such activities of terrorists bring Islam and Pakistan into embarrassment and disrepute. These elements cannot be Muslims because Islam is a religion of peace, “ he added.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri demanded of the government to formulate effective counter-terrorism strategy through short- and long-term measures in consultation with all religious and political parties. He regretted that ad hoc approach and lack of state resolve vis-à-vis terrorism are responsible for the deaths of innocent people. As long as political will is missing, these terrorists would continue to run amok.

Underlining the need for parliamentary debate and formulation of a consensus-based policy, he warned the government that the country is being reduced to the status of Afghanistan, Somalia, and other failed states for want of effective government’s actions. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in peace and give patience to their families to bear the loss of their nears and dears ones.
