Country back to politics of 1990s: Dr Raheeq Abbasi

Dr Raheeq Abbasi, Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has said that the leaders of bigger "political parties" have begun to perform 'small' acts and this is what constitutes their real "Charter of Democracy". He said that it is in the politics of accusations that survival of both parties lies. Political dramas, he said, are being played with the people of Pakistan and immoral language is being spoken against the political opponents for last 30 years, which is a part of an agreed script. He regretted that the country has relapsed to the politics of 1990s.

Dr Abbasi expressed these views while talking to a delegation of senior leaders of MQI who called on him in his office yesterday. The delegation included PAT Punjab President Lehrasib Khan Gondal, MH Shaheen, Jawad Hamid, and Zahid Javed.

He said that both ruling and opposition parties have put the problems of masses at back-burner. Both parties, he added, have no plan or a strategy to resolve the issues of load-shedding, unemployment and poverty. He asked the people of Pakistan to understand that they do not figure anywhere on the 'agendas' of the so-called parties. He said that there is a need to launch a peaceful struggle to change the present system which extends protection to the corrupt politicians. "Without change in the system, political wizards would continue to cheat the masses and play on their emotions. Therefore, it is important for the people to send this system packing. It is time the people broke their silence and became catalyst for change," he concluded.
