Shaykh-ul-Islam’s message on the advent of Ramadan
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has congratulated the Muslims in general
and people of Pakistan in particular on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan---
the month of fasting. In his message on the blessed occasion, Shaykh-ul-Islam said:
“The holy month of Ramadan affords a unique opportunity to conduct self-accountability,
purify ourselves and hearts and submit ourselves completely to Allah Almighty. There
is a need to fathom the essence of this holy month of fasting to edify ourselves.
Ramadan is not about being thirsty and hungry. The unmistakable message of this
month is to imbibe the feeling for the hard-pressed and under-privileged sections
of society and work for their welfare.
“We have drifted far away because we have turned deaf ear to the essence of Islamic
teachings and confined ourselves to performance of rituals. Islam is a unique and
dynamic faith, which imparts a lesson of people’s welfare and uplift through the
observance of rituals. It seeks to establish a society free from want, hunger, deprivation
and violence and where the Muslims activate their spiritual potential in an environment
of piety and goodness.”
