Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri asks Supreme Court to take suo moto notice of Karachi situation
Expressing his deep concern on the unabated wave of terror, target killings,
incidents of firing and ransom, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has appealed
to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of fast deteriorating situation
in Karachi. He said that there is little justification for the federal and provincial
governments to stay in power in the backdrop of what is going on in Karachi. He
said that dead bodies are being thrown out of moving vehicles; the citizens are
being kidnapped from buses whereas dozens of people are being killed with abandon.
He added that people are at a loss to understand as to why the apex court and the
military are keeping mum over the situation.
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while talking to Dr Raheeq Ahmad
Abbasi, Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, on phone from abroad.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that politics is being played by destroying peace in Karachi.
He said that people’s life, honour and property are not safe in the country in general
and in Karachi in particular. The government’s writ, he bemoaned, does not seem
to exist anywhere. The churning out of ‘everything is ok’ report by the federal
and provincial governments is criminal. People’s blood, he said, is being shed with
impunity, while the state agencies and law enforcement institutions remain silent.
He said that the entire country presents the picture of a killing field and the
government is busy in playing political games. The country, he added in the same
context, is passing through critical times.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that there should be no place for those in the corridors
of power who play with the life and property of people. He asked the people to awaken
their consciousness and purge the parliament of such elements who do politics on
the dead bodies of innocent people.
