First PhD on ideology of Shaykh-ul-Islam completed

Rafiq Habib Al-Azhari, a graduate of Minhaj University Lahore, Director of Scottish
Islamic & Cultural Centre (Jamia Masjid Bilal) Dundee, and General Secretary British
Council for Islamic Guidance (BCIG), has recently completed his PhD from Al-Maktoum
College for Higher Education Dundee, University of Aberdeen, Scotland UK.
It may be mentioned that Dr Habib Al-Azhari conducted his research on the thought
and ideology of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. The title of his thesis
was "A Critical Analysis of the Ideology of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri with Special
Reference to Islamic Revivalism".
In his thesis, he has examined, analysed and compared the ideology of Shaykh-ul-Islam
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri with the ideologies of Imam Hassan Al-Banna, Sayyid Abu
Al-A'la Maududi and other contemporary scholars.
Dr Habib Al-Azhari is the first Minhaj-ul-Quran’s scholar in the UK who has completed
his PhD and he also has the unique distinction of being first one ever to conduct
PhD on the subject of “A Critical Analysis of the Ideology of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
with Special Reference to Islamic Revivalism.”
