Lahore: Terming the formation of Election Commission of Pakistan a result of ‘deal’, Chairman Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri demanded its dissolution and reformation on the eve of his long march on in Islamabad.

Presenting his ‘charter of demand’ during a press conference in Lahore on Thursday, the firebrand religious figure said that they will only accept a caretaker setup after due consultation with all the stakeholders.

Dr Tahir also said that only the elections held in accordance the Articles 62, 63 and 218 of the constitution will be accepted.

He categorically stated that ‘no talks will hinder or compromise his will to take out the long march on January 14’. “The dialogue will only be held at the D-Square outside the Parliament House in the federal capital”, he remarked.

“I have put mine and my companions lives at stake to hold the march and bring change in the system”, he said.

He also said that he does not believe in any sort of ‘closed-door talks’. He claimed that hundreds of people came to him to engage in talks and postpone the march.

Dr Tahir warned that inactivity at this crucial juncture will only result in loss to the country. He invited all ‘patriotic political parties to stand in unison to bring the required change’.

“The verdicts of Supreme Court of Pakistan are being ridiculed since the last two years”, he remarked.

He clarified that he has no greed of power; he is only holding the activity to ensure justice in Pakistan.
