MQI delegation participates in All Parties Conference

A high-powered delegation of Minhaj-ul-Quran International led by Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Secretary General, participated in the All Parties Conference convened by Prime Minister Sayyid Yousuf Raza Gillani in Islamabad on May 18, 2009. The Conference was aimed at forging national consensus on the ongoing military action against terrorists and extremists in the Malakand Division and reviewing arrangements made for relief and rehabilitation of internally displaced people (IDPs). Heads and top office holders of 43 religious and political parties of Pakistan attended the Conference. A 16-point resolution was adopted unanimously at the end of the Conference. All strands of national opinion stood behind their armed forces in its fight against militancy and terrorism. The national leadership endorsed military action and appealed to the nation to come forward and help the IDPs. The communiqué also assured the world that the strategic assets of the country were in safe hands and apprehensions in this regard were unfounded. The proceedings of the Conference continued for 10-long hours. Naib Nazim-e-Ala Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz and central leader Sardar Mansoor Ahmad Khan were other member of MQI delegation.
