Comprehensive policy needed to overcome energy crisis: Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz

Acting Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, has said that the worst power outages have paralyzed the life of people with negative consequences for the economy. Due to power crisis, industrial units are being closed and this has aggravated the unemployment problem even further. He urged the government to take revolutionary steps for resolution of power crisis. He said that it appeared that we were living in Stone Age with no electricity, no water and no other civic facility. He also criticized the government’s decision to raise the gas and electricity rates. He said that this decision would make life of common man miserable who is already under heavy burden of price hike and high food inflation. He emphasized the need of adopting short- and long-term measures to get rid of energy crisis now afflicting the country. He also asked the government to further reduce the patrol prices and check price hike through provision of subsidy.
