Joint Central Executive Council of PAT and MQI meets
The joint meeting of Central Executive Council (CEC) of Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Minhaj-ul-Quran International was held in Model Town, which was attended by district and Tehsil office holders of MQI from across the country. Nazim-e-Ala Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbsi presided over the meeting, while Miskin Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, G.M. Malik, Anwar Akhtar Advocate, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Dr Shahid Mahmood, Mian Zahid Islam and others also attended the meeting.
A joint resolution was passed at the occasion which expressed deep concern at the threats posed to national security and integrity of Pakistan, demanding of the government to clearly state its position in this regard. Mumbai terror attacks were condemned in severest possible terms. The resolution said that terrorism had no religion. Pakistan has itself been worst victim of terrorism. The resolution took strong exception to Indian leadership for placing all blame of attacks on Pakistan without any investigation, terming the unsubstantiated Indian allegations as an attempt to isolate Pakistan. The CEC also expressed its deep concern at the rising levels of price hike, unemployment and poverty in the country. It asked the government to transfer the benefit of drop in international fuel prices to the poor consumers immediately. It demanded of the government to adopt effective anti-poverty policy. “The parliament should play its due role in ensuring rule of law,” the resolution concluded.
