There are two types of Islamic preachers: the incendiary supremacists who justify violence in the name of avenging real or imagined injustice and the pacifist moderates who hail forgiveness as the best human virtue. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri belongs to the second category. Based in Canada since 2006, the Pakistan-born eminent Sufi scholar and preacher has been on al-Qaida's hit list ever since he issued a 600-page fatwa against terrorism on March 20, 2010.

VADODARA: Pakistani Islamic scholar Tahir-ul-Qadri on his first visit to Gujarat thanked Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for the security arrangements provided to him by the state government.
Dr Qadri, known for his strong views against terrorism and extremism, however, refused to comment on 2002 communal riots. Dr Qadri is in Gujarat since Friday night to lay foundation stone of India headquarters of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) in Karjan on Saturday evening. આતંકવાદી પ્રવૃત્તિમાં સંડોવાયેલા વ્યક્તિઓ અને સંસ્થા ક્યારેય ડો. તાહિરૂલ કાદરીને પસંદ નહીં જ કરે. ડો. કાદરીનો વિરોધ કરનાર તત્વોને પોતાની દુકાન (સંસ્થા) બંધ ન થઈ જાય અને પોતાના ઈમામની લોકપ્રિયતા ક્યાંય ઘટી ન જાય તેનો ડર છે. આતંકવાદને ઈસ્લામ સાથે કોઈ જ સંબંધ નથી અને બધા જ મુસ્લિમો આતંકવાદ પ્રવૃતિને પ્રોત્સાહન આપતાં નથી, તેમ આજે ગુજરાત પ્રદેશ ભાજપ લઘુમતી મોરચાના પ્રમુખ અને હજ કમિટીના ચેરમેન સૂફી સંત મહેબુબઅલી ચિસ્તીએ જણાવ્યું હતું.મહેબુબઅલી ચિસ્તીએ ‘સંદેશ’ને કહ્યું કે, અત્યાર સુધી ડો. તાહિરૂલ કાદરીએ મો. પયગંબર સાહેબ પર ચાર હજારથી વધુ પુસ્તકો લખ્યા છે. જે અત્યાર સુધી કોઈ લખી શક્યુ નથી. ડો. કાદરીની બરાબરી કરી શકે, તેવી કોઈ મુસ્લિમ વ્યક્તિ અત્યારે નથી. તેમની જોડ મળવી મુશ્કેલ છે. આજે ડો. કાદરીની સામે ટેબલ પર બેસી તેમની સાથે ડિબેટ કરી શકે તેવો કોઈ મૌલવી નથી.

Ahmedabad The state government on Wednesday gave a go-ahead for Pakistani scholar Tahirul Qadri to address public meetings at different places in Gujarat despite opposition by certain Muslim groups.
On Tuesday, Vadodara district administration had announced cancellation of his programmes after some Muslim groups sent a memorandum opposing Qadri’s visit. Through pamphlets and handbills, these outfits also appealed to the people not to attend to his programmes.

Pakistani Islamic scholar Tahirul Qadri, who has been facing threats for his condemnation of terrorism by various outfits in Pakistan, including Taliban, is scheduled to visit more than half-a-dozen places across the country from February 25 to March 18 amidst protest by some groups in Gujarat.
Coming to India on an invitation by Karjan-based Minhajul Quran International (India), a branch of the UK-based MQI headed by Qadri himself, the Pakistani academician, who subscribes to Sufi school of Islamic thought, will be specially focussing on anti-terrorism in his lectures.
