Post-flood economic revival not possible without indigenous resource mobilization : Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, president of Minhaj-ul-Quran International’s Federal Council, has said that the country suffered a staggering loss of billions of dollars in the wake of recent floods that damaged million acres of standing crops, livestock, telecommunication & power infrastructure, roads, bridges and houses across the four provinces, AJ&K and Gilgit-Baltistan besides causing loss of precious human lives.

In a statement issued by Directorate of Media of MQI, Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri urged the government to widen the tax net by targeting the feudal lords and wealthy people. He said that the government should formulate indigenous policies for post-flood economic revival instead of going to IMF and the World Bank for loans.

Highlighting the need of ensuring transparency, he emphasized that intensive reforms were needed in the taxation system of the country to meet the economic challenge. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that sustainable economic growth was not possible without according due importance to agriculture, which contributes so substantially to GDP and employs about 48% of workforce.
