The central executive of Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) held a meeting at its headquarters in Model Town Lahore in connection with sending relief to those affected by heavy rains and flood in Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP. The director MWF Aqil Malik presided over the meeting. Deputy director Malik Shamim Ahmad, assistant director Sajid Hameed, Tauqeer Awan, Main Iftikhar were among other office-bearers of the tehreek who participated in the meeting. They prayed for those who lost their lives in the natural disaster. After the meeting Aqil Malik, talking to the journalists, expressed his grief and said that every heart was saddened at the loss of life and property. At this critical time MWF, maintaining its tradition, has started emergency efforts for helping those affected. And its workers are busy with helping the sufferers. He announced MWF has established relief fund and all possible efforts will be undertaken to reach out those in great need. Giving the details of the calamity, he told the journalists that storms, floods, and torrential rains are still hitting the areas and have affected more 800,000 people, destroyed thousands of houses, displaced 25 thousand people and wiped out thousands of villages. The whole nation should rise to the challenge. He also informed the journalists that MWF is rendering services under the dynamic leadership of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. In past Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) rose to help the victims of Tsunami in Indonesia, earthquake in Iran's province Bam and Kashmir earthquake and gave 500 million rupees in aid. Relief for those struck by Kashmir earthquake is still in progress. Appealing to the nation he said, "Please come forward and give in charity to those of your brothers and sisters surrounded by flood and heavy rains. And stand by Minhaj Welfare Foundation in this difficult time. Please give your donations generously so that relief might be sent without delay." In answer to a question he said, "Pakistani nation is a great one in that it never shrinks from helping the stricken people. MWF has acquired a good reputation and earned trust of the people for sending relief to sufferers. This trust has come as a result of services it has rendered for the good of the humanity."
