Shahadat Imam Hussain Conference Sheffield 2006

Venue: Noabri Hall, new mosque Masjid Noor,

Hosted by: Sister Shahida Rasool, Tilawat-e-Quran: sister Fareeda, English speech: brother Bassat (London), Urdu speech: Sister Faiza (London), Quest: Maxine (part of the Respect political group)

It is by the Grace of Allah Almighty and the blessings of His Beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) that we had the opportunity to organise a programme for the Shahadat Imam Hussain on 26th February 2006 in which, around 150 females attended both elders and youngsters. We started the conference with Sister Fareeda reciting Tilawt-e-Quran from Surah Al-Baqarah, and then a beautiful nasheed was recited by sister Mumtaaz

When the gathering increased brother Abdul Bassist who replaced Sister Khadijah Atkinson delivered a speech (in a separate room) on Hadhrat Imam Hussain and all His sacrifices, this was linked to today's society and the common misconceptions about jihad. This lecture was kept fairly simple because there were non Muslims also present in the conference.

Maxine Smith addressed the audience to make an appeal for the earthquake in Kashmir. She simply told us that she went to Kashmir to look around what had happened and whilst she was there she wanted to open a girl's college because she saw the girls had far to travel to their nearest college.

Sister Faiza addressed the audience about the seerah of Faitimah-ul-Zahra, and how we should love and respect her and how we should keep her as our role model. She recommended the mothers and daughters to turn there house's into houses like Fatima Zahra's and to improve our lives. She started her talk of with the meaning of karbala and gave us a brief talk on Hadhrat Imam Hussain (ra).

Finally the conference ended with Dhikr which sisters Faiza, Farah and Mssarat lead Finally we ended with Du'a.

There was also a stall set up consisting of Books/lectures of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, the stall proved to a great success. Coming soon we will be arranging A Mawliid nn Nabi for our next programme Insha'Allah.
