Islam is a solution to the global ills: Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has said that a society where the scourges of extremism, conservatism and terrorism exist would not be able to earn international respect and good will. The dream of material progress and prosperity of people of Pakistan has remained unfulfilled mainly because our successive rulers neither tried to diagnose the problem accurately nor suggested any cure for it. Pakistan, which was achieved in the name of Islam, lacks application of democratic and Islamic systems in its real spirit. It was a matter of great misfortune that the country had come to be known as a 'failing state' with graver impacts on national economy and politics.

He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of research scholars of Farid-i-Millat Research Institute the other day. "It is high time war against ignorance was launched," he observed urging representatives of all walks of life to play their role in this joint venture. He said Pakistan's ranking on the touchstone of literacy was low compared to the countries of the region. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that extremist and conservative attitudes of some people had disfigured the peaceful and moderate image of the majority of Pakistanis. The scholars needed to wage intellectual war against such attitudes in order to save Pakistan and Islam from being brought into disrepute. He said Minhaj-ul-Quran International was the global Movement working for peace and harmony by highlighting real Islamic teachings in five continents of the world. He further stressed the need of exposing the conspiracies being hatched against Islam both internally as well as externally. "Islam stands for love, peace and brotherhood. Its golden teachings can provide the necessary foundation for establishment of international peace," he concluded.
