Government’s strategy on power management defective: Dr Raheeq Abbasi

The government has failed to address the problem of load-shedding in a comprehensive manner and the energy conference organized in Islamabad could not offer any workable strategy to mitigate the pain people were experiencing due to constant power outages. These views were expressed by Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Nazim-e-Ala of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, in his press briefing in connection with the upcoming National Conference on April 26, 2010.

Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that power crisis had devastated national economy and thousands of people had been rendered jobless. He said that it was hoped that the energy conference would give good news to the worry-stricken people but it only relied on cosmetic measures, which are sure to fail given the vast gap between demand and supply of electricity.

He said that Minhaj-ul-Quran International was organizing National Conference on April 26, 2010 on the special instructions of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, which would be attended by representatives of chambers of commerce and industry from different cities, lawyers, traders and students.
