Full rehabilitation of flood victims a long haul: Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Helping the flood victims who are living miserable life under the open sky is the best form of worship. The condition of those worst hit by the recent floods demands that we continue to put in sustained efforts and energies for their complete rehabilitation. It is a long haul and we need to stay the course. The hundreds of workers and volunteers of MQI who spent thirteen days including three days of Eid in the service of the flood affectees need felicitation and our tribute. But this is merely the beginning of a long drawn-out journey. A lot is still left to be done.

These views were expressed by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in telephonic speech to the Flood Relief Committee of the Minhaj Welfare Foundation yesterday. Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, G.M. Malik, Raja Jamil Ajmal, Iftikhar Shah Bokhari, Jawad Hamid, Shahid Latif, Sajid Mahmood Bhatti, Qazi Faiz ul Islam and other leaders were also present on the occasion. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that looking after the residents of the tent settlements is the responsibility of the management of those establishments. He also directed Shahid Latif, Managing Director of Minhaj Education Society, to set up tent schools near the Minhaj Tent Settlements and post the staff of Minhaj Model Schools there so that education of the children does not get affected. Appreciating the relief operations of Minhaj Welfare Foundation at a wider scale, he stressed the need of continuing them till the complete rehabilitation of the flood victims.
