Accused in Model Town tragedy being posted to top positions by Imran Khan: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
I am short of words to express deepest congratulations to Prime Minister Imran Khan on appointing the criminals and main characters involved in #ModelTownCase on even higher ranks during his own governance.— Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri (@TahirulQadri) March 6, 2020
MQI leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has regretted that Dr Tauqeer Shah and other accused in the Model Town tragedy have been posted to even better offices and with lucrative packages by the Imran Khan government. He sarcastically stated that he is at loss for words to greet PM Imran Khan at this 'achievement'. He expressed these views in a special meeting held here on Friday to review the legal proceedings in the Model Town tragedy case.
The victims of #ModelTownMassacre have been demanding for an impartial trial of this case and are still awaiting for this basic constitutional right. Nothing has changed for the innocent victims even till now.— Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri (@TahirulQadri) March 6, 2020
The legal team of the martyrs' families briefed Dr Qadri about the status of the petitions being heard by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Lahore High Court and Supreme Court. He recalled that seeking justice for the victims of Model Town tragedy was the main point of Imran Khan’s election campaign and he had spoken to numerous public meetings and press conferences on the issue. But, practically speaking, he lamented, the situation is that all the accused involved in the killing of innocent people, were afraid despite all assurances by the previous regime that they would be held accountable with the change in government. However, all these accused have been given better offices and promotions by the new government and they are considering themselves as more secure and protected, he said.
The masterminds and perpetrators of #ModelTownMassacre were afraid of being caught during the past government but now they do not feel any fear during Imran Khan's government.— Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri (@TahirulQadri) March 6, 2020
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri also recalled that at least 125 activists of PAT who protested against the Model Town tragedy, were sentenced and are serving jail terms in various jails of the province for the crimes they didn’t commit. He bemoaned that Muhammad Sultan, one of the imprisoned activists who is suffering from a brain tumor and despite clear instructions by doctors for his early therapy, is being made to go through a long, painful bureaucratic procedure to be shifted to Karachi for treatment. Sultan has been facing the agony of wait for the last three months. On the other hand, government offices are opened on weekly off days to extend relief to those with suspected ailment and conviction in corruption cases and. They are sent abroad with full protocol. He said he cannot find 'appropriate words' to greet Imran Khan on this magnanimous change in the style of rule.
