COSIS hosts conference to highlight the importance of the Arabic language

College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences arranged an international conference to mark and celebrate the International Day of the Arabic language. COSIS Principal Dr Mumtaz-ul-Hassan Barvi presided over the conference, whereas the teachers from Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, and Tunisia, and different universities of Pakistan, as well as the noted linguists, attended the conference.

The speakers highlighted the importance and history of the Arabic language in their speeches. They appreciated the conduct of the conference, stating that such exchanges are vital to underscore our commitment to the language.

Dr Muhammad Abdul Azeem Al-Azhari, an academic from Egypt, joined the conference via a video link and stated that we should love the Arabic language. He said it is the language that binds all Muslims around the world. He said we are lucky to have one of the refined, comprehensive, and developed languages of the world.

Dr Abdul Mahmood Sudani, while speaking from Sudan through a video link, said that Sudan is an Arabic country in which the majority of the people living here speak the Arabic language. He threw light on the services of the Sudani scholars for the growth and development of the Arabic language and literature. He congratulated COSIS on holding the conference to celebrate the International Day of the Arabic language.

Shaykh Fazal Bin Mohammed Al-Qairawani who came from Tunisia threw light on the historical significance of Arabic art, language, and culture. He said that no one can deny the importance of the Arabic language being the lingua and franca of Muslims around the world. He stated that we should all make efforts to promote this language.

Shaykh Khalid Al-Shami Al-Yemeni who hails from Yemen read a paper on the international significance of the Arabic language and said that Arabic represents our cultural identity and unity.

Addressing the conference, Dr Mumtaz-ul-Hassan Barvi said that Allah Almighty chose the Arabic language as a vehicle to guide humanity. He said there is a dire for teachers, students, and religious scholars who have command of the Arabic language today. He informed the participants of the conference that COSIS is playing an important role in promoting the Arabic language and Islamic sciences in Pakistan. He asked other educational institutions to come forward and play a part in this regard.

Principal COSIS said that the determination of December 18 as the International Day of the Arabic language is an important decision that we value. He said the conference has been arranged to highlight the importance of learning the Arabic language. He thanked all the participants for sparing time to share their thoughts at the conference.

Dr Mumtaz Ahmad Sadidi, head of the Arabic department, Dr Shafqat Ali Baghdadi Al-Azhari, Director of Students Affairs Dr Faizullah Baghdadi, Dr Masood Ahmad Mujahid, Dr Nabila Ishaq, Dr Zaheer Ahmad Siddiqi, Hafiz Sajid Mahmood Al-Azhari and others also addressed the conference. The speakers lauded the services and contributions of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for the promotion of the Arabic language, art, and culture.
