Calling to faith is a shared responsibility of men and women: Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Minhaj-ul-Quran International Supreme Council Chairman Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has highlighted the significant role of women in Islam.

In his address at Karachi, he emphasized that in the Islamic faith, women, just like men, are equally entrusted with the responsibility of enjoining good and forbidding evil, establishing prayer, paying Zakat (Alms due), obeying Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him).

He clarified that any notion suggesting the Holy Quran only addresses men should be dismissed.

Dr Qadri pointed out that the Holy Quran explicitly declares that believing men and believing women are allies and helpers of one another.

He noted that when it comes to serving the faith, women are not behind men but often appear to be at the forefront. Citing the example of recent religious gatherings, he observed that the participation of women significantly surpasses that of men, which serves as evidence that women play a central role in calling others to the faith.

The Supreme Council Chairman asserted that no household, no family, and no community can be considered complete without the inclusion of women alongside men.

Referring to the important moments in Islamic history, he pointed out that the migrations to Abyssinia and Medina involved not just men, but also women. Out of 73 individuals, who pledged their allegiance during pledges of Aqaba-I and Aqaba-II, two of them were women.

Dr. Qadri elaborated that when the message of Islam was being conveyed at Dar al-Arqam, Sayyida Khadijah al-Kubra (may Allah be pleased with her) was present as a listener, a learner, a source of support, an advisor, and a counselor. Sayyida Khadijah (RA) not only became the Holy Prophet's (peace be upon him) helper but also stood out as an exemplary figure in serving the faith with her insight, experience, and wisdom, he added.

The Supreme Council Chairman stated that limiting the invitation and message of Islam to men alone is incorrect. Rather, women have played a prominent role in spreading the teachings of Islam in every era. He emphasized that such an organization should come into being that consists of both men and women because the message of Islam is one of complete partnership and equality between the two genders.
