Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, stated in his address on the death anniversary of the First Caliph, Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), that the life of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) represents a comprehensive picture of faith, truthfulness, loyalty, sacrifice, and service to religion. He presented a practical example of the elevation of truth and righteousness by supporting the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) during every trial. His life was a living embodiment of the Quran and Sunnah, he said.

Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that accompanying the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) in the Cave of Thawr during migration is a shining testament to Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq's (RA) exalted station. The mention of his companionship in the Holy Quran is evidence that he is among Allah's and His Messenger's (PBUH) most beloved companions.

He remarked that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq's (RA) caliphate was a beautiful blend of simplicity, justice, and humility. He considered himself not a ruler but a servant of the Ummah. His steadfastness regarding the obligation of Zakat strengthened the foundations of the Islamic state.

Dr. Qadri emphasized that today the Muslim Ummah desperately needs to learn from Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq's (RA) character. If we adopt truthfulness, loyalty, sincerity, and service as our hallmark, the crises facing the Ummah can be resolved automatically, he said.

He stated that the caliphate of the First Caliph, Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), is an exemplary and complete model of a welfare state in Islamic history. His governmental era was a practical manifestation of Quranic and Prophetic teachings and a brilliant example of the continuity of the State of Madina.

He noted that Sayyidina Siddiq-e-Akbar (RA) confronted internal and external seditions with great wisdom, insight, and perseverance, granting stability to the Islamic state—an example unmatched in human history.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq's (RA) life and character are a perpetual source of guidance for the Muslim Ummah. He said that the conquests and achievements during his era are brilliant chapters in Islamic history of which the Ummah rightfully takes pride.

He emphasized that the First Caliph (RA) established an effective Bayt al-Mal (public treasury) system, making the care of the disabled, poor, and deserving a state responsibility, practically demonstrating that an Islamic state is the protector of the vulnerable class.

Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) provided complete protection of life and property to non-Muslim citizens, defined their rights and responsibilities, and granted every citizen of the state justice and dignity without discrimination.

His entire caliphate was a practical embodiment of the noble example of the Prophet (PBUH). All his governmental and administrative decisions were direct practical interpretations of the Prophetic teachings.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that today the rulers of the Muslim world and modern state systems should seek guidance from Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq's (may Allah be pleased with him) governmental and welfare model, because the path to true justice, peace, stability, and public welfare lies inherent in this style of governance.
