A New Era of the Quran Translation Begins with "The Manifest Quran"‎ | Historic Launch Event held at Harrogate, UK

His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri actively ‎participated in and delivered a keynote lecture at the historic launch event of The ‎Manifest Quran at the Harrogate Convention Centre, UK. Also accompanied by ‎Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri showcased the unique features ‎of "The Manifest Quran" by presenting excerpts from his new translation. These ‎excerpts illuminate the genuine essence, authentic message, and true meaning of ‎the verses. Unlike some translations that introduce significant alterations, "The ‎Manifest Quran" prioritizes minimal changes, preserving the clarity, flow, ‎intelligibility, and natural expression of the original text.

Shaykh-ul-Islam emphasized the crucial role of a translator’s deep understanding of ‎the source text’s content, intent, and language. Translators, he argued, must possess ‎exceptional proficiency in both the source and target languages to ensure a faithful ‎and well-connected rendition of the Quran’s message. He emphasized that every ‎translation of the #HolyQuran has its own merits and shortcomings. The publication ‎of “The Manifest Quran” does not by any means imply that other translations are of ‎no worth. All contributions have contributed towards the development of the ‎understanding of the Quranic message. There are some novel merits of “The ‎Manifest Quran” making it unique amongst the existing ones.

Shaykh-ul-Islam highlighted that while the Holy Quran is considered untranslatable, ‎it is also translation-friendly. “The Manifest Quran" goes beyond conveying the ‎overall meaning and theme of a verse, also preserving the literal, grammatical, ‎structural, and stylistic beauty of each word within that verse.

Shaykh-ul-Islam delved into the rich history of Qur’anic translation, showcasing his ‎extensive research. He highlighted that translating the Quran was a practice adopted ‎by the Holy Prophet's Companions, with the initial effort undertaken by Hazrat ‎Salman, the Persian, who translated Sura al-Fatiha into Persian. Starting from the ‎Prophetic period, he beautifully discussed different eras of Qur’anic translations in ‎chronological order.

President MQI UK Sayyid Ali Abbas Bukhari, President Minhaj European Council Bilal ‎Uppal, Zill-e-Hassan, Dr Zahid Iqbal, Tehseen Khalid, Allama Muhammad Afzal ‎Saeedi, Faisal Hussain, Adnan Sohail, Shaykh Abu Adam al-Sherazi, Moazzam Raza, ‎Allama Zeeshan, along with religious scholars and diverse personalities from various ‎walks of life, actively participated in the event.
