UK: Mawlid-un-Nabi (SAW) celebrated under aegis of MWL Aylesbury

Aylesbury had its first Mawlid-un-Nabi celebrations organised by Mrs Sakina Ali. The programme was held under the banner of Minhaj Women’s League in Aylesbury on Saturday 5th April 2014.

The stage secretary was Mrs Jabeen Ali Tahiri, who throughout the event, dilated on numerous subjects, including ‘why we celebrate Mawlid’, Hadiths on the permissibility of reciting poems and the benefits of sending Salat-o-Salaam.The event commenced with Tilawat and Qasida Burda Sharif by Arfana and Affan Ali. Throughout the event many Naats were recited by the young and old alike and in various languages. Two young boys, Zakir and Zayaan, recited the Message of Mercy of The Holy Prophet (SAW) in English and a local Islamic School group recited Nahseeds in Arabic. Whilst all these children were of a tender age, their ability to recite in front of an audience was very well demonstrated. Guest Naat reciter was a local sister, Mrs Tayiba Nafees, who blessed the audience with her beautiful recitations in expressing the love for The Holy Prophet (SAW). Sister Palwasha, though no more than 14 years of age, recited Naats like someone with over 30 years of experience in the field. Her words came with deep love she held for the Holy Prophet (SAW) and touched the hearts of the audience, which left them totally emotional.

Other Naats were recited by Sisters Parveen, Rukhsana, Saadia, Malika, Husna, Ursala and Iram. Whilst words cannot do justice to the way they recited, it suffices to say that they are true lovers of the Holy Prophet (SAW), which was expressed through their recitations. More Naats were presented by Sister Tanvir who had come from Luton to participate in the Mawlid celebrations. The guest speaker for the English lecture was Mrs Zeinab Sheikh. She is the Muslim Youth League Sisters local co-ordinator for London. She spoke about the character of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and eloquently spoke about his marriage with Sayyieda Khadija (RA). This topic was also spoken about in Urdu by Mrs Rashida Kazi, who is a local teacher. She also highlighted the importance of being able to correctly read and understand the Holy Quran, which is the book brought to us by the Beloved Prophet (SAW). Mrs. Humaira Shakeel was the main Urdu guest speaker. She is the president of Minhaj Women’s League for West London. She educated the audience on what true Faith is, which is to love the Holy Prophet (SAW). Without this love, there is no Imaan. She informed everyone that worship alone, in the form of prayers, fasting, Hajj etc. is not enough to get us close to Allah.

Mrs Tanvir from Luton gloriously recited the Salaam and Mrs Humaira conducted the Dua to bring the event to a close. The participants were gifted with a written Durood Sharif to encourage them to keep reciting this whilst at home too which they greatly appreciated. A stall was also arranged by Mrs Mafooz from London selling the books of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Books were in both English and Urdu and it proved very popular.
