Tahir-ul-Qadri to 'avenge' killing of workers

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri Monday vowed to avenge the death of his supporters and said he will stay in Pakistan till corruption ends, and justice is served.

"I will revenge inshallah (God willing). I will revenge for the labourers, helpless, poor and martyrs," he said at the Jinnah Hospital as he visited those wounded in last week's clashes.

Addressing workers at his residence later, Qadri said he would "announce a date for revolution" shortly. "I will give a sudden call," he said. "The rulers will try to run away, but I won't let the looters run away."

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Ilahi were accompanying the PAT chief during his hospital visit. A large number of party workers, including women, were present in the hospital and surrounded Qadri, who thanked the media, Sheikh Rasheed, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Altaf Hussain and MQM, and the Sunni Ittehad Council for supporting him. Qadri said he agreed to come out of the plane because he considers Chaudhry Sarwar as his brother and not a representative of the government.

He said that he will avenge the death of his supporters and will stay in Pakistan till corruption ends, and justice is served. "The Lahore incident is an example of state terrorism," said the PAT leader. He said that "such torture" of his workers by Shahbaz Sharif has never been seen by anyone in history.

"Rana Sanaullah, who implemented Shahbaz's orders, should have taken advice from Sarwar," the PAT leader said. "I wanted to come to Lahore from Islamabad but the government panicked and diverted my plane", he said.
