MYL UK - S (Bradford) conducts monthly study circles 2015

MYL UK – Sisters recently re-launched their study circles in Bradford. Henceforth, the study circles will be continuing regularly on every third Sunday of the month between 1:30 pm and 3:45 pm. The first study circle of MYL UK – Sisters in Bradford took place on 22nd February 2015 in Manningham library. The discussion topic of the first study circle was, "Why am I the Only One Suffering?"

Upon arrival, the attendees were given worksheets containing a brief introduction, Quranic verses and Hadith which were going to be studied in the session. Misbah Wahid, the local area executive for Bradford, conducted the proceedings of the study circle. Before embarking further on the topic, Misbah welcomed the participants and briefly explained the rules and regulations and informed the audience that the study circles would be regular feature now. She encouraged the participants to invite others as well to benefit from this exercise.

Soon after, Misbah explained the topic of how often Allah tests the patience and faith of the believers in times of hardship. The aim of this study circle was to throw light on this and to show how there is a reason for the trials and tribulations we go through and ways to overcome them by reminding ourselves that Allah is testing us and we should exhibit patience constantly.

The sisters enthusiastically shared experiences in their life that they had overcome by the grace of Allah and especially through a patient attitude. The sisters enthusiastically gave input and shared their knowledge and experiences.

“A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. (If you are afflicted in any way), do not say: ‘If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,’ but say only: ‘Allah so determined and did as He willed.’ The word ‘if’ opens the gates of satanic (thoughts)” (Muslim). The participants explored the meaning of this hadith, one of the insightful interpretations and lessons a believer can take from here is if something doesn't come our way, we shouldn't look back and say 'if', because whatever happened, Allah destined for it to happen.

Verses of the Quran and Hadith were studied and discussed in depth and the theme was reflected upon. The sisters talked about many sub-topics such as reducing wordly attachments, reminding ourselves of Allah's favours and strengthening our personalities. The date of the next study circle is on 22nd March 2015 at Manningham Library from 1:00pm – 3:30pm Insh’Allah, and all sisters are welcome to join us.
