Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri asks world community to wage multi-pronged war against terrorism

PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the powers that have been harping upon the mantra of ‘do more’ should do the same themselves. He said that those fighting the war on terrorism for last ten years should tell the world as to what results they achieved during their years-long engagement. He said that fighting terrorism is not a foreign agenda but part of our faith, adding that we will fight terrorism both individually as well collectively with other nations. He said that the armed forces of Pakistan have achieved phenomenal successes in a span of five years. He said that the credit for elimination of 90% of terrorism goes to the Pakistan military.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri made these remarks while talking to media in Birmingham yesterday. He said that if the international community wants to get rid of terrorism then instead of putting a particular meaning on it, terrorism should only be considered what it is: terrorism and the global mindset about it should change now. He said that the policy of lumping terrorism with one nation or a country can spawn terrorism but it would in no way reduce its incidence. He said that terrorism is a multipronged menace and has ideological, political and economic angles to it and the scourge needs to be fought at every level.

The PAT Chairman said that Pakistan’s terrorism problem is complex. He said that various local and regional powers are involved in fomenting terrorism in the country. He said that there are hidden hands that train, finance and provide weapons and shelter to the terrorists to carry out activities of terrorism. He said that the facilitators and abettors of terrorists need to be nabbed as well.

Dr Qadri said that the international community needs to take all of these aspects in view at the time of devising an anti-terrorism strategy. He said that we are going to every nook and corner of the world to protect the youth from pernicious ideology of terrorism and are educating them on the real Islamic teachings, adding that his recent UK tour is the link in the same chain. He said that more than 500 British Muslims are participating in the Al-Haydiyya camp whose agenda is protection against extremism, building of a peaceful society and promotion of peace.

He further said that the nation needs to be united in the fight against corruption and terrorism but added in the same breath that this appeal for unity is directed at those sections that are opposed to terrorism and corruption and those that have track record of opposition to such evils. He said that the support of those who were declared as dishonest by the apex court of Pakistan is not required. He said that these are the corrupt forces that have been involved in spawning terrorism and corruption in the country.
