Dr. Mohamed Abdelsamed Mohamed Mahana visits Minhaj University Lahore, speaks to students

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelsamed Mohamed Mahana, adviser to the Vice Chancellor of Al-Azhar University, has said that extremism and radicalism increased because the correct teachings of Islam could not be communicated to the common man. He said that the bright future of Islam is closely linked with promotion of knowledge and research, adding that the institutions of higher learning can play a leading role in checking the advance of intellectual narrow-mindedness.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelsamed Mohamed Mahana made these remarks during his visit to Minhaj University Lahore yesterday. Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, deputy chairman Minhaj University Lahore (MUL), Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghouri and the heads of the departments of MUL welcomed the distinguished guest on his arrival at the University. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelsamed Mohamed Mahana was also accompanied by Dr Loi bin Zain bin Jafar.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelsamed Mohamed Mahana was given a special briefing on various faculties and PhD programs particular School of Peace and Anti-terrorism.

Addressing a session of students, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelsamed Mohamed Mahana said that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri rendered valuable service to the humanity and the world of Islam in the realm of promotion of knowledge and elimination of extremism and terrorism from the platform of MQI. He said that he is happy to note that the educational system of Minhaj University has its resemblance with that of Al-Azhar University.

A visit of the distinguished guests to various departments of MUL was also conducted. Professor Abdelsamed appreciated the excellent management of the University and congratulated Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri on provision of quality education.

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri thanked Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelsamed Mohamed Mahana on accepting his invitation to visit Minhaj University and sparing time to be with the students. A souvenir was presented to the honorable guest on behalf of the University management.

Giving his concluding talk before his departure, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelsamed Mohamed Mahana said that he was amazed to see an excellent arrangement put in place by Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for education and training of the succeeding generations. He prayed to Allah Almighty to give long life to Dr Qadri so that he could continue to serve his people. He said that he was impressed by the quality of education provided by Minhaj University Lahore. He said that the people of Pakistan and Egypt are woven in a bond of love and brotherhood. He said that our relationship dates back to the centuries. He said that the people of Pakistan have immense love for Islam. He said that students of more than 110 countries are getting education at Al-Azhar University including those from Pakistan. He said that the Pakistani students are very hard working and bright.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that MUL was awarded with Social Responsibility in Higher Education Award in Malaysia due to its tremendous services in promotion of affordable and quality education in the country. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri founded this University in 1986 and today it is running PhD programmes in five disciplines. The School of Peace and Counterterrorism is running an M. Phil programme, adding that conversation regarding a collaboration with an Australian University is in the final stages for a joint Master degree in Peace and Counterterrorism studies.

Dr Hussain further informed the visiting guests that Minhaj Education Society is operating more than 600 schools that are busy imparting quality but affordable education to over one hundred thousand students across the country and have engaged more than 15,000 teachers for this purpose.
