Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri inaugurates Jiu-Jitsu camp

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman of MUL BoG, has said that sports are of utmost importance for mental and physical well-being of the students. He said that Minhaj University is playing its role in the promotion of sports among the students. He thanked Mr. Carlos Almeida, a black belt holder in martial arts from Brazil, for coming all the way to train the students in the University and also gave him appreciation shield. Vice Chancellor MUL Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, Fahd Sarwar, Col. (r ) Muhammad Ahmad, Col. (r ) Mubashar Iqbal, Khurram Shahzad, Ch Munir Hussain, Director Sports, the University teachers and students were present on the inauguration of the training camp.

Carlos Alemida taught a few skills of Jiu-Jitsu to the students. He said that it is an important skill for self-defence. He said that the Pakistani students are sports loving and very talented, adding that what they need is sports facilities and proper training in the martial arts. He said that the Pakistani martial arts players can bring a good name to the country through rigorous and extensive training. He congratulated the University administration for initiating the training programme.

Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, VC of Minhaj University, said on the occasion that the students taking part in the training of the martial arts will greatly benefit from this facility and it will help them gain in self-confidence as well as learn important tips in self-defence. He said that the parents have an important role to play in persuading their children to take up sports. He said that MUL has made arrangements for the training of martial arts from an internationally known expert. He further told that 150 students have joined the training camp.

An MoU was also signed between MUL and Brazalian Jiu-jitsu Federation on the occasion.
