Wish 14 lives were privileged the same way as one man: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

MQI leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said the kind of care and attention Pakistan's judicial, legal and state system has showered on one individual, he wished it may have meted out the same treatment to 14 innocent lives and four people martyred in Model Town and Sahiwal. 'Would that this system would have applied the same yardstick of equality to the poor as it did in case of the rich and powerful', he said.

In a statement, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the only impartial investigation into Model Town tragedy for which the PAT workers waged a relentless struggle for five years was disallowed midway. He said the system does not allow the oppressed people even the right to have an impartial investigation into the crimes committed against them. He said the system should have given the same importance to the innocent people killed in broad daylight in Sahiwal whose killers were acquitted the way it cared for one man because no evidence is available against the powerful people under the current system.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said since solid evidence and witnesses are available and complainants are standing their ground in Model Town case, that is why the investigation of the case has been suspended. He said the poor, who protested the massacre, were arrested and put behind the bars for five years.
