Mississauga Muslim Community Center holds Eid-ul-Fitr Drive-Thru Lunch

Muslims across Canada and the whole world celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on May 24th, 2020. This Eid celebration was difficult for the Muslim Ummah. During this worldwide Covid-19 Pandemic, the mosques remain closed throughout Canada, due to which, no collective Eid prayers were held.

In this difficult time MMCC, Jame Al Mustafa, and MQI Canada held an Eid Drive-Thru lunch for the community. The whole event was well organized while keeping all the governmental by-laws in mind. Only 5 volunteers managed the whole event keeping a healthy distance from each other and using protective gear. This ran from 11am - 3pm.

Alhamdulillah, it was nice to see people coming along with their families and cars decorated. They were served lunch right in their cars with no one being allowed to get off. There was a huge turnout. The organizers would like to thank everybody who came. The community appreciated the efforts of MMCC and thanked them for there continued services.

We had the honour of welcoming MPP Mississauga East-Cooksville Brother Kaleed Rasheed who joined us as well. He was happy to see the work being done and appreciated the efforts of MQI Canada. Brother Kaleed Rasheed also took part in food distribution and wished all our local community a happy Eid Mubarak. He thanked all the volunteers for doing everything in a clean and organized manner while observing social distancing.
