Having simple food is Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH): Allama Ain-ul-Haq Baghdadi

Allama Ain ul Haq Bahdadi

In a lecture to the Friday congregation, Allama Ain-ul-Haq Baghdadi spoke on the ill-effects of overeating, especially with reference to the spiritual and medical ailments caused by the habit. He said that Islam is a natural religion that has provided guidance to the people in every walk of life. He said that it has also taken a complete care of man’s physical and spiritual health and given him awareness about the do’s and don’ts of food intake.

Allama Ain-ul-Haq Baghdadi said that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) would always have simple food and never eat to his heart’s fill. He said that eating less is a practice of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and a guarantor of good health. He said that Allah’s favorite people love hunger whereas overeating is the weapon of Satan. He said that today’s medical science is endorsing the benefits of less eating that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) described 1400 years ago.

Allama Ain-ul-Haq Baghdadi said that diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol are becoming rampant and the principal reason behind their spread is overeating. He said that the stuffing of the stomach makes one lazy and idle, which leads to more diseases with the passage of time. He said that the benefits of fasting are manifold, adding that when one fasts, one comes to experience good health and a positive state of mind all along. He asked the people to keep themselves connected to the teachings of the religion as they contain important pieces of information for living a healthy and balanced life.
