Youth skill development, not loans or aid, needed for economic progress: Prof Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Dr Hussain Qadri addresses international conference

Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman of the MUL’s Board of Governors, addressed the closing session of the international conference held at Minhaj University Lahore. He stated that rather than loans or aid, the focus should be on making our youth skilled and honorable.

“By empowering youth with skills, the global issues of extremism and illegal immigration can also be addressed,” he said.

Prof Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that Pakistan's population comprises 60% youth, which is the highest among any country. Pakistani citizens have played an active role in the development of Gulf countries, the UK, and Europe.

He said that serious economic cooperation among nations is necessary to address economic instability and security issues in the region. No single country can combat economic challenges alone. He said that Pakistan has always played an active role in global peace and has sacrificed more lives and resources than any other nation.

The conference was organized by the School of Political Science and the School of Peace and Counterterrorism Studies. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, Dr. Yasser Khan, Dr. Bibi Saira, Dr. Sajida, Dr. Afsar Rathore, Dr. Heinz Gartner, and Jonathan S. Addison, former Ambassador Mansoor Ali Khan, former Foreign Minister of Austria Dr. Werner Fasslabend, and Dr. Khurram Shahzad expressed their views at the ceremony.

At the conclusion of the conference, Minhaj University Lahore and the Institute for European Security Policy Austria signed a memorandum of mutual cooperation. The papers were presented on environmental changes, combating illegal immigration, human development and well-being, economic stability, and security challenges during the conference.
