Religious Scholars Are Those Whom Allah Has Made Witnesses to His Oneness: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri Addresses Scholarly Gathering in Oslo

Oslo, Norway: His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and Prof. Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri, Chairman Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, participated in a special scholarly session organized in honor of religious scholars at the Islamic Center Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Oslo.
On this occasion, Shaykh-ul-Islam delivered a detailed address on the virtues and responsibilities of religious scholars. He stated that religious scholars are, in reality, those distinguished personalities whom Almighty Allah has made witnesses to His Oneness and truth. He emphasized that their true identity lies in being “Qaim bil-Qist”—those who remain steadfast upon justice and fairness at all times and never deviate from the demands of justice in any matter.
While continuing his address, Shaykh-ul-Islam stressed that scholarly discourse must always be based on sound research and strong evidence. Explaining the proper order of scholarly reasoning, he stated that priority must first be given to the Holy Qur’an, followed by the Prophetic Hadith (peace and blessings be upon him), then Ijma (consensus) and Qiyas (analogical reasoning), and finally Ijtihad and personal opinion, as maintaining this order is essential for preserving academic and scholarly standards.
During the session, Shaykh-ul-Islam also responded to various scholarly and research-based questions raised by the participants.
