Strengthening Immunization Efforts to Protect Every Child Is Need of the Hour: Dr. Hussain Qadri

President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, has praised the global humanitarian and medical role of the World Health Organization (WHO) on the occasion of World Immunization Week, calling it exemplary and worthy of emulation.

In a statement, he noted that Pakistan’s immunization program, launched in 1978, has saved the lives of approximately 2.6 million children and provided medical protection to millions of mothers and children.

He said that according to statistics, since 1994, efforts have contributed to a 99.8% reduction in polio cases—an extraordinary achievement. The WHO also reports that immunization programs have reduced child mortality in Pakistan by up to 17%. There is no doubt that very few medical interventions deliver such significant results with limited resources.

Dr. Hussain Qadri emphasized that the state must ensure that vaccines reach every child. However, he added that a concern remains: in 2025, more than 16,000 measles cases were reported in Pakistan, with over half occurring in unvaccinated children. He said that the government must ensure that no child is deprived of vaccination.

Religious scholars and the media can play an effective role in raising awareness and promoting this vital cause, he maintained.
