MYL UK Meeting & Launch

On Sunday the 9th November, the Muslim Youth League UK conducted its meeting & official launch at the James Graham Building, Leeds Metropolitan University. The meeting was attended by dozens of brothers who came from a number of towns and cities around the UK.

The meeting began with the recitation of a section from the Holy Quran and recitation of poetry in praise of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.). After the welcome, brother Riza Akhtar gave the National Youth Council (NYC, the task oriented body of MYL UK)

an overview of the various developments since the last meeting which took place in August at Aston University. The main development being the Workers Handbook and the DVD project which was aimed at UK government and EU officials along with many other things.

As part of the motivational aspects and emphasising the importance of daw’ah, brother Rehan Ahmad Raza gave a brief yet informative and inspiring talk. He touched upon how and why daw’ah is an obligation on the Muslim Ummah through individual and collective efforts.

During the meeting very important aspects were discussed including the relevant protocols and specified aspects of the mission statement and constitution. Project Managers were appointed for the various projects; this comprised the official launch of MYL UK.

These projects include providing subtitling features of recorded talks and speeches of Shaykh ul Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri into various languages; ensuring that products of Minhaj ul Quran International are distributed to various outlets; building networks at universities and colleges; and daw’ah through leisure activities. These are the first four projects initiated through the NYC body in MYL UK. As well as this, local co-ordinators were further appointed to fulfill roles in areas primarily located around MQI centres.

Thereafter, time was allocated for prayer and time for the brothers to socialise, network and interact. By doing this the workers had the opportunity to know each other. Plans were made to arrange a team building exercise during the winter. The meeting and launch was termed a success. At the close, supplication was performed.
