MQI to hold Itikaf this year

The annual Itikaf, which was postponed in view of relief activities for the flood victims last year, would be held this year during the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan. The registration process has been launched across the country. The first meeting to review preparations for Itikaf 2011 was held yesterday in the central secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International with acting Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, who is also the head of central committee on preparations, in the chair. The meeting was attended by the 45 heads of central and sub-committees.

Jawad Hamid, Secretary of the central Itikaf Committee, briefed the participants about the arrangements and threw light on the responsibilities of various committees.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz said that thousands of people from the country as well as abroad would attend the Itikaf this year. He said that the central committee has prepared a comprehensive plan for the provision of maximum facilities to the residents of Itikaf City. He said that the central committee would leave no stone unturned to facilitate the thousands of the Mautikafeen. He said that special training sessions would be arranged to equip the residents of the Itikaf City with basic teachings and fundamentals of religion so that they could play their positive role in the promotion of peace and harmony in the society. He said that the registration for Itikaf City 2011 has been initiated in the country.
