Signs of Allah’s Love for His Servant
The true divine lovers are those that when you look at their faces you are reminded of Allah. Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Al-madani Al-qadri
Love does not begin with us; it begins with Allah the Mahbub, and He places that love in the hearts of creation. Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Al-qadri
Introduction:
The journey of spiritual enlightenment often leads a seeker to wonder: “Does my Creator love me?” In a profound discourse, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri explores the spiritual markers that indicate Allah’s affection for a believer. Understanding these signs is not just about reassurance; it is about recognizing the Divine grace that shapes a believer’s heart and life.
Love Begins with the Creator:
The first and most significant sign that Allah loves you is the presence of love for Him within your own heart. According to the sources, this love is not something you have cultivated yourself; rather, Allah chooses hearts with sincere intentions and places His love within them. As the Holy Quran suggests, the divine order is that Allah loves them first, and as a result, they are granted the ability to love Him.
A Celestial and Universal Proclamation:
When Allah loves a servant, He does not keep that love to Himself. He announces it to the Angel Jibril (A.S), commanding him to love that person. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“When Allah loves a slave, calls out Jibril and says: I love so-and-so; so love him'. Then Jibril loves him. After that he (Jibril) announces to the inhabitants of heavens that Allah loves so- and-so; so love him; and the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him and then make people on earth love him”
This command then spreads through all the angels of the heavens and eventually descends to Earth, where Allah places love for that servant in the hearts of humanity. Therefore, becoming beloved to your brothers and fellow creation is a clear sign of Allah’s affection.
The Prompt Fulfillment of Desires:
Another sign of Divine love is when Allah becomes prompt in fulfilling a servant’s desires. The sources mention that for those whose only true desire is the “Mahbub” (the Beloved Lord), Allah does not make them wait or practice long patience for their needs. Because their hearts are detached from worldly greed, Allah quickly fulfills their wishes as a reflection of His closeness.
Reflecting the Divine Beauty:
True divine lovers become mirrors of Allah’s attributes. The sources explain that Allah engulfs His beloved servants with the reflection of His divine glory and majesty. This is why looking at the faces of such people reminds one of Allah. A historical example provided is Prophet Musa (A.S), whose face reflected such divine awe after his conversation with Allah that he had to veil himself for forty days.
Divine Assistance in All Affairs:
A profound sign of Allah’s love is His direct assistance in a servant’s worldly and spiritual tasks. When a person is completely fixated on seeking Divine pleasure, Allah takes it upon Himself to fulfill their responsibilities and propel their affairs to success. In this state, the servant’s hearing, speaking, and actions are guided and supported by Allah’s grace and “Tawfiq”.
Conclusion:
In summary, the love of Allah is a transformative force that starts in the heavens and manifests in every aspect of a believer’s life. It is a gift that turns a regular servant into a reflection of Divine light, ensuring they are never alone in their struggles. When a servant forgets their own needs in the pursuit of Allah, Allah ensures that their needs are never left unfulfilled.
